DECONGESTING THIKA TOWN

The County Government of Kiambu through Thika Municipality has commenced rehabilitation of various town roads in Thika aimed at decongesting the town. The roads which are currently dilapidated are being upgraded to bituminous standards to ease access and connectivity. To enhance security and 24 hours economy the Municipality will benefit from 287 Integrated Solar Street lights (ISSL) distributed in various areas. (Kilimambogo 40 Juja 147 and Thika town 100)

Roads

The upper road from KRA to Stadium is being constructed; the road acts as a bypass to Garissa rd through General Kago rd.

Work has started at Kenyatta highway to Joytown school which is the major road for Thika and the project is expected to be complete within a year.

In the next 9 months Ngoliba ward will have its first tarmac with the upgrading to bituminous standards of Kilimambogo – Makutano and Muguga township access rd. The township will also benefit from 40 streetlights.

Secondary Sewer

Construction of a 4.7 km Secondary sewer that will traverse through Muigai Inn, Chief’s Area and Daima Estate is underway. The sewer system once complete will increase the number of residents with access to sewer services, reduce the cases of pollution and water borne diseases related to hazardous liquid waste which in turn will enhance standards of living and a clean sustainable environment.
