Richard Gitonga – CPSB Member
Richard has a BA Hons degree from the University of Nairobi, an MBA from USIU-A, a Business Leadership Skills Certification from Cornell University, Johnson School of Graduate Management and well as certification in Copyright Law from Harvard Law School. He is also a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
Richard Gitonga is the Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee in the Kiambu County Public Service Board and a member of the Recruitment Committees, Pensions, Staff Welfare and Public Relations Committee and Governance, Ethics & Disciplinary Committee.
He is the CPSB liaison member for the Department of Youth Affairs, Sports & Communication as well as Water, Environment, Energy & Natural Resources.
Over the last ten years, Richard has been engaged in various entrepreneurial technology-based ventures ranging from online retailing, e-learning and the Internet of Things (IoT), specializing in enterprise platforms that help drive greater operational efficiency and human capital productivity both in public and private enterprise. He is also a Corporate Governance practitioner and is currently a facilitator and trainer for corporate governance programs emphasizing on Strategic Thinking, ICT, Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity Governance. He has served on various boards including the Coffee Board of Kenya, the Institute of Directors, and First Community Bank. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the China Africa Friendship Association (Kenya Chapter). Richard is also an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
Before venturing in entrepreneurship ten years ago, Richard held various marketing and business development leadership roles in blue-chip local and international organizations such as McCann-Erickson, GlaxoSmithKline, Coca-Cola Africa, Africa Online, Standard Chartered Bank and Telkom Kenya. He has experience in providing business leadership in countries within Africa, the Middle East and Singapore.
