Mary Maina – CPSB Member

Mary Maina is a former Director of nursing services at the County Government -Kiambu. A post she held until August 2018. Prior to this post she held several key leadership positions in health department which includes county reproductive health coordinator, public health nurse coordinating mother and child health services and also a member of the county health management team, an organ that oversees the implementation of service delivery in the department of health. Before devolution of health services, she was a key member of the district health management team in her capacity as a district public health nurse.

Mary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Mt Kenya University, a Higher National Diploma in Community Health Nursing from KMTC and is a Kenya Registered Nurse / Midwife/FP from Nairobi Hospital and Mater Misericordiae hospital respectively. She has also trained in health service management courses from Strathmore School of health care and Kenya school of Government. She has a career experience spanning to 36 years of which 12 were in administrative position. She is a renowned practicing nurse licensed by the Nursing council who has also participated in development and review of several policy guidelines in particular in reproductive health field.

Mary Maina is the Chair of the Human Resource Committee in the Kiambu County Public Service Board and a member of the Finance and Administration Committees. She is the CPSB liaison member for the Department of Administration & Public Service as well as Department of Roads, Transport, Public Works & Utilities.

Before joining civil service, Mary had served in a Missionary hospital as a lecturer in the school of nursing and later joined a private hospital in Nairobi. Mary has a passion for serving the community so she joined civil service in 1988 as a junior Kenya Registered nursing officer and was gradually promoted through several portfolios’ she served in Thika level 5 hospital to attain the Senior Assistant Director Nursing position.
